Personnel File No. 006 — Sherry + Cash, June, & Maxwell

September 27, 2026

Nobody Wanted Them. I Took All Three. 🐾

It started with a drive down the East Coast.

Cash was seven states away, and I was going to get him.

That was the entire plan: make the drive, pick up Cash, bring him home.

Then I saw June.

I asked about her and learned that she and Cash were what they called “discount puppies.”

No one had chosen June. I was told they didn't really know what they were going to do with her because no one wanted her.

I looked at her.

And just like that, the plan changed.

I took them both.

And then there were three.

Six months later, I saw Maxwell.

Another “discount puppy.”

Another little dog who, for whatever reason, hadn't been the one someone chose.

This time, there wasn't even a decision to make.

I brought him home.

Three dogs.

Three completely different personalities.

Three little lives that, for one reason or another, had been passed over.

Nobody wanted them.

But I did.

And that's the part of their story that has stayed with me.

They didn't need to be perfect. They didn't need to be the puppies everyone noticed first. They didn't need anything extraordinary from me.

They just needed a chance.

They needed someone to choose them.

They needed love.

And, as it turned out, they needed each other.

What I didn't know then

When I made that drive to get Cash, I wasn't thinking about starting a company.

When I saw June, I wasn't thinking about a brand.

When Maxwell came along six months later, there was no business plan.

There was just a decision, made three different times:

You can come home with me.

But somewhere along the way, those three dogs changed the way I saw the world around me.

They got me outside. They made ordinary places matter. They turned walks into routines, routines into memories, and strangers into people I might never have met without them.

They reminded me how much of life happens in the seemingly insignificant moments—the extra block, the unexpected stop, the place you discover because someone has four paws and absolutely no respect for your schedule.

And eventually, an idea began to take shape.

Pets, Obviously.

A company built around something I had learned firsthand: our animals don't simply live alongside our lives.

They change them.

They take us places.

They introduce us to people.

They give ordinary moments meaning.

And sometimes, the ones who were overlooked are the ones who change everything.

It started with a dog.

Cash, June, and Maxwell weren't the dogs I set out to find.

I set out to find one.

I came home with two.

Then six months later, there were three.

The puppies nobody wanted became my family.

And years later, they became the reason behind something much bigger than any of us.

Maybe that's why “Because of them” means so much to me.

It isn't just a tagline.

It's the truth.

There would be no Pets, Obviously without Cash, June, and Maxwell.

No chapters.
No Personnel Files.
No community.
No stories waiting to be told.

It all traces back to three little dogs who simply needed someone to give them a chance.

Nobody wanted them.

But I did.

And looking back, I think they gave me far more than I ever gave them.

Because of them. 🐾
